Deniers of Lethe
3-D free standing sculpture. Mild steel fabrication. Title: Deniers of Lethe Dimensions: H27” x W17” x D6.5” Year of creation: 2024. Free standing sculpture fabricated with recycle steel. With the fabrication process I use Plasma Torch technology and ignite a cutting force above 3000°F. I use a stick welder building up piece by piece and traditional blacksmithing techniques, forging steel, and shaping my vision with the hammer. Inspired by an ancient mythological story that if you drink the Lethe Water (named as the “Arny’s Water”) you will forget everyone you are in love with.
The meaning of “Lethe” or “Ληθη” is referring to “forgetting”. The“Arny’s Water” is the natural spring water, located in Greece on Andros island. It is a very small village named “Arny” that still exists today. Poems, mythology and folklore story-tellers refer to “Lethe” as the emotional struggle of those that have been forgotten, from ancient times till now. For inquiries click here to contact the Studio.
