Learn how to create wearable jewelry pieces with silver, gold, copper and brass.  The program includes designing, fabrication, traditional filigree, repousse, soldering, stone setting, sawing, filing, embossing, coloring, polishing. Demonstrations and hands-on assistance will be part of each meeting. Learn concepts for basic and advanced jewelry fabrication. Become familiar with essential silversmithing skills and methods of cutting, forging, embossing, and all the fundamentals of soldering techniques. Students are given the instructions and tools to make rings, earrings, bracelets, and other forms of one of a kind jewelry.

Hollow Construction Techniques for Jewelry

Learn the hollow construction technique to create jewelry. Combine traditional techniques like metal forging, forming, cutting, assembling and soldering with a flame torch. Hollow metal construction is a surprisingly versatile technique allowing lightweight jewelry designs for earrings, necklaces, rings, pendants, metal beads ornaments, etc. 

 

 

Intro to Silversmithing Jewelry

start June 11, 2025 on Wednesdays from 3 PM till 5 PM

Experience the fundamental processes of cutting, forging, metal texturing, hammering, sawing and soldering silver. The course includes: bezel stone setting for cabochon gemstones, polishing techniques and combining sterling silver sheet metal with fine silver wire, etc. Specific projects, planned by the instructor, will focus on how to make silver rings, pendants, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. Silver will be provided. Please note, the use of silver material or gemstones will be limited to the scheduled projects planned by the instructor.

 

Silver Ring Design start day, June 14, 2025 from 3 PM till 5 PM Learn how to make silver rings with a variety of designs. Focus on learning the fundamental fabrication techniques and procedures. Explore how to use the jeweler's saw and shears for cutting metal, filing, drilling for piercing, forming for shaping, sweat soldering for joining components, and buffing polishing. Included are bezel stone-setting and gemstones to completely finish your ring project.

Students wanting to work in silver should bring their own silver supply.
